Okra Tomato Gumbo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 slices bacon
    1/2 lb. round steak, thinly sliced
    2 medium onions, coarsely chopped
    4 c. stewed tomatoes
    1 qt. water
    1 qt. chicken broth
    2 beef bouillon cubes
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen lima beans
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen okra, sliced
    1/2 c. cooked, diced ham
    1 c. cooked, diced chicken
    1 c. tiny cooked shrimp
    1 can yellow whole kernel corn, drained
    salt and pepper to taste
    hot pepper sauce
Preparation
    Fry
    bacon
    until
    crisp;
    remove, leaving drippings in Dutch oven. Reserve bacon to add to finished gumbo.
    Add round steak slices
    and
    brown
    slowly,
    adding onions toward end of process. Add
    tomatoes
    with
    juice, water, chicken stock and bouillon cubes;
    simmer
    1 hour or more.
    Add frozen limas and cook 20 minutes.
    Add sliced okra, ham and chicken.
    Simmer 20 minutes. Just before serving, add the shrimp and drained corn and
    heat thoroughly.
    Taste
    and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper
    and pepper
    sauce.
    Serve in large shallow bowls with cornbread or cheese biscuits.
    Makes 5 quarts.
