Mushroom Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. unsalted butter
    2 (8 oz.) pkg. mushrooms
    1 large onion, sliced
    2 (10 3/4 oz.) cans cream of mushroom soup
    2 (10 3/4 oz.) cans beef consomme
    1/4 c. dry sherry (optional)
Preparation
    Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
    Add mushrooms and onion and cook, stirring after 5 minutes, or until onions are tender.
    Stir in mushroom soup and remaining ingredients, stirring often.
    Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes.
    Yield: 8 cups.
