Applesauce Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. applesauce
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. white sugar
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    2 eggs
    2 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. walnuts
    1 pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and cocoa.
    Beat in the eggs.
    Blend the flour, soda and salt and add to the shortening mixture alternately with the applesauce.
    Add 1/2 cup nuts.
    Pour batter into a jelly roll pan.
    Before baking, sprinkle chocolate chips and 1/2 cup nuts over the mixture.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for about 40 minutes.
