Mexican Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. corn meal
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
    1 medium onion, grated
    1/4 c. melted shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp. red pepper
    1 c. milk
    1 (6 oz.) can creamed corn
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients.
    Mix with electric mixer on medium speed until well mixed.
    If not well mixed, cornbread will be pasty.
    Pour into greased iron skillet or casserole dish.
    If iron skillet is used, heat batter filled skillet on top of range 3 or 4 minutes before baking.
    This makes a very crispy crust.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
