Butterscotch Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. water
    2 c. cold milk
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine brown sugar, salt and water in top of double boiler. Boil to a thick syrup.
    Mix 1/4 cup milk and cornstarch to thick paste.
    Add 1 3/4 cups milk, then stir into hot syrup.
    Cook over hot water until thick and smooth, then cook 15 minutes longer, stirring constantly.
    Stir small amount of mixture into beaten egg yolks.
    Return to boiler and cook until thick.
    Add butter and vanilla.
    Pour into baked pie shell.
    Top with meringue and brown.
