Date-Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. chopped dates
2 c. boiling water
2 tsp. soda
1 c. margarine
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. flour

Preparation

Mix the dates, boiling water and soda; set aside.
Cream the margarine, sugar and salt.
Add eggs, cocoa and vanilla.
Stir in date mixture.
Add flour.
Mix well.
Pour into greased oblong cake pan.
Sprinkle top of cake with 1 package of chocolate chips and 1 cup of chopped nuts.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 45 minutes.
