Shortcakes - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. flour
2 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 sticks margarine
3/4 c. milk
1 egg, beaten
Preparation

Sift together first five ingredients; cut in margarine.
Stir in milk and eggs.
Mix to form a dough.
Knead dough lightly on a floured surface.
Shape into half inch thick square.
Cut into nine 3-inch biscuits.
Place on cookie sheet.
Heat oven to 400\u00b0. Bake 15 minutes.
Split warm biscuits and top with your favorite fresh or frozen fruit.
Yields 9 servings.
