Hearty Cabbage Soup(A Main Dish Ready In 30 Minutes!) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 oz. kielbasa (Polish sausage), sliced 1/4 inch thick (I use the lite kielbasa)
    1 Tbsp. oil
    1 medium onion, chopped (optional)
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 cabbage, shredded coarse
    1 can tomatoes (I chop the tomatoes small)
    2 c. water or more if needed
    1 can cannellini beans, drained (optional)
Preparation
    In large heavy saucepan brown kielbasa in oil.
    Remove kielbasa.
    Pour off all but 1 tablespoon fat.
    Add onion and saute until tender.
    Stir in salt, thyme and pepper, then cabbage, tomatoes, sausage and water.
    Bring to boil.
    Reduce heat, cover and simmer 15 minutes or until cabbage is a desired tenderness. Stir in beans.
    Cook for a few minutes to heat beans.
    Serve with Italian bread.
