Old Fashioned Corn Light Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. hot water
    1 1/4 c. meal
    1 c. cold water
    1 1/2 c. meal
    1 egg
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    3 c. meal
Preparation
    Add the hot water to 1 1/4 cups meal.
    Make this into mush. Set off to cool, then add cold water and enough meal to make a thick mush.
    This will take 1 1/2 cups meal.
    Cover and set in a warm place until the next day.
    Let it rise.
