Chili-Cheesy Moose Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. (1 pkg) moose steak, round or chuck (1-inch or 2.5 cm thick)
    3 Tbsp. (45 mL) flour
    2 tsp. (10 mL) salt
    2 tsp. (10mL) chili powder
    dash of pepper
    1 c. (240 mL) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
    1/4 c. (60 mL) shortening or melted butter
    2 c. (480 mL) chopped onions
    1 can (1 lb. or 456g) tomatoes
Preparation
    Cut moose into serving sized pieces.
    Combine flour, salt, chili powder and pepper.
    Pound into meat on both sides.
    Brown well in hot shortening.
    Remove from pan and brown onions in drippings.
    Spoon onions into large casserole and arrange steak pieces on top, then undrained tomatoes.
    Cover and bake 1 to 1 1/2 hours (or until meat is tender) at 350\u00b0 (175\u00b0 C).
    Sprinkle with grated cheese and heat 5 minutes longer to melt cheese.
    Serves 6.
