Vodka Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    olive oil (enough to saute garlic in pan)
    garlic, minced or crushed (3 to 4 cloves)
    crushed tomatoes (1 can - 28 oz.)
    1/4 c. vodka
    1/3 c. heavy cream
    basil to taste (approximately 1 tsp.)
    salt to taste
    pepper to taste
    fresh mushrooms (1 carton, 8 to 11 oz.) (optional)
Preparation
    Saute fresh mushrooms and garlic.
    Add tomatoes, vodka, heavy cream, basil, salt and pepper.
    Simmer for about 40 to 50 minutes, covered.
    Serve over penne or large sized rigatoni pasta.
