Red Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. boiling water
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add unbeaten eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each addition.
Add vanilla to milk.
Alternate milk with flour which has been sifted with salt, soda and cocoa. The alternating begins with flour and ends with flour, thus dividing the milk in thirds and the flour in fourths.
Add boiling water all at once and stir until well combined.
Bake at 350\u00b0 in a 9 x 12-inch pan for 45 minutes or until done.
Bake layer pans for 30 minutes or until done.
This is a large, moist cake.
It will keep well.
