Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. lean beef
    2 Tbsp. flour
    2 Tbsp. fat
    2 c. water
    1 can tomato sauce or 1 c. catsup
    6 onions
    6 carrots
    6 potatoes
    1 c. green peas
    2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/2 bay leaf
    1/8 tsp. thyme
Preparation
    Wipe pieces of beef with damp cloth and roll in flour.
    Brown in fat in heavy kettle or saucepan.
    Add water, tomato sauce and seasonings.
    Cover tightly; cook over low heat until almost tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
    Add prepared onions, carrots and potatoes.
    Cook 30 to 40 minutes longer.
    Just before vegetables are tender, add green peas and cook 5 to 7 minutes longer.
    Serves 6.
