Fruit Compote - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 to 6 apples, peeled, cored and chopped into medium pieces
    1 pt. frozen strawberries
    3 cinnamon sticks
    2 qt. cold water
    3 to 4 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Great for using up apples or other fruits before they spoil. Combine all ingredients except sugar in a large pot and cover. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer until apples are soft. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
    Add sugar to taste.
    Can be served hot or cold as a fruit drink.
    (Remove cinnamon sticks.) Refrigerate unused portion.
    Great for kids; eat the fruit, too. Optional:
    Add dried prunes or raisins.
    Try your own combination of fruits.
