Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine, softened
2/3 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. pure vanilla extract
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
vanilla confectioners sugar frosting
Preparation

Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy; blend in vanilla extract.
Add egg; beat for one minute.
Stir in flour gradually.
Cover; refrigerate for 2 hours. Roll out on board, floured, to 1/4-inch thickness; cut out in desired shapes.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in 325\u00b0 oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
Cool on wire racks.
Decorate with frosting.
