Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe Cake 'N' Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. cocoa
    1 oz. bitter chocolate
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. butter (do not substitute margarine)
    2 c. light brown sugar
    2 eggs
    2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour (do not substitute)
    1 c. buttermilk
    4 Tbsp. butter (not margarine)
    4 Tbsp. cocoa
    2 c. confectioners sugar
    3 Tbsp. milk
    1 egg yolk (if desired)
    dash of salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream as follows:
    First, cream the margarine until fluffy; stir in cocoa.
    Sift sugar and add gradually to creamed mixture, beating constantly.
    Stir in enough milk to make the right consistency for spreading.
    One can add 1 egg yolk and beat in well at this time, if desired, for extra smoothness.
    Stir in salt and vanilla.
    Spread on cooled cake.
