Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. cornmeal, sifted fine
1 medium onion, chopped fine
1/2 medium green pepper, chopped fine
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. (approximately) buttermilk

Preparation

Mix all ingredients well and drop by a teaspoonful into hot oil (preferably oil that you have fried fish in).
Dough will rise to top of oil.
Turn once if the hush puppies don't turn themselves.
