Pineapple Cream Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    13 oz. crushed pineapple
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 pkg. unflavored gelatin
    1/2 c. cold water
    8 oz. cream cheese
Preparation
    Boil pineapple and sugar mixture for 5 minutes in a saucepan. Remove from stove and add cream cheese.
    Stir until it is dissolved.
    Add the gelatin, which has been dissolved in cold water, to the mixture.
    Refrigerate until the mixture is partially set.
    Then fold in a small container of Cool whip.
    Refrigerate overnight in a 12 x 8-inch Pyrex covered dish.
    Cut in squares and place on lettuce.
