Ingredients

3 large onions
1/4 c. butter
2 tsp. all-purpose flour
6 c. beef broth (beef consomme)
1/4 c. cooking wine (white)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
French bread
Swiss cheese, sliced
Preparation

Saute onions and butter, then add remainder of ingredients and simmer.
Toast French bread with garlic salt.
When simmered and ready to eat, pour soup in bowl.
Top with toasted bread and layer 2 slices or more of sliced Swiss cheese.
Put under broiler and melt cheese.
