Jambalaya - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. oil
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 1/2 lb. raw Cajun sausage, linked into 3-inch pieces
    1 1/2 lb. cubed ham
    2 lb. shrimp
    2 to 3 doz. oysters
    1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
    1 lb. long grain rice
Preparation
    Heat oil and saute onion until tender.
    Add sausage and ham. Let cook on medium for about 15 minutes.
    Keep covered.
    Add tomatoes.
    Cook about 15 minutes longer.
    (Chop tomatoes.)
    Add shrimp and drained oysters, but set oyster water aside.
    Cook 5 minutes.
    Add rice and cook on low, stirring often.
    Cook until rice is tender.
    If rice is too dry but not done, add oyster water.
