Cashaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small cashaw
    1/2 c. water
    nutmeg
    1 c. white sugar
    3/4 stick oleo, cut up
Preparation
    Peel cashaw and cut up in cube size pieces.
    Place in Corning Ware baking dish.
    Add sugar, water and oleo; sprinkle good with nutmeg.
    Cover and cook slowly until slightly tender.
    Test with fork.
    Remove lid; raise fire and cook until done and juice has thickened.
    May also be cooked in oven.
