Baked French Toast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 large eggs, beaten lightly
    2/3 c. milk
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. vanilla
    8 (1-inch thick) slices French or Italian bread
    1/2 stick (1/4 c.) butter
    maple syrup
Preparation
    In a large flat dish, combine the eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla.
    Let the bread soak in the mixture in one layer for 2 minutes, turn it, and let it soak until it has been absorbed.
