Oatmeal Cake With Penuche Frosting - cooking recipe

1 c. old fashioned rolled oats
1 c. boiling water
1/2 c. margarine
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Combine oats and water. Let stand while mixing rest of cake. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Using electric mixer, cream brown sugar and margarine in large bowl. Add eggs and beat well. Stir in dry ingredients, then vanilla, oats mixture and nuts. Pour into greased 9 x 9 inch pan or 7 x 11 inch pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30-40 minutes. Cool and frost with Penuche Frosting.
