Holiday Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    2 c. broken nuts
    1 c. raisins
    1 c. fig jam
    2 c. chopped dates
    2 Tbsp. sherry
Preparation
    Cream together the shortening and sugar, then add eggs.
    Sift together the first seven ingredients and add alternately to the sugar mixture with the sherry.
    Add nuts, raisins, dates and figs. Chill overnight in refrigerator.
    Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
