Orange Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. oleo
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. flour
1 lb. chopped dates
1 lb. chopped orange slices
1 can flaked coconut
2 c. chopped pecans
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar until smooth; add eggs 1 at a time and beat well after each. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to creamed mixture. Place flour in large bowl and cut candy and dates, letting fall in flour. Add nuts to flour. Stir to coat each piece and add mixture with coconut to creamed mixture. This makes a very stiff dough that should be mixed by hand. Put in a greased and floured 13 x 9 pan. Bake at 250\u00b0 for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
