Ingredients

5 1/2 to 6 1/2 c. flour
2 pkg. active dry yeast
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. salt
2 Tbsp. oleo or shortening, softened
2 1/2 c. hot tap water
Preparation

Measure flour; set aside.
Combine 2 cups flour, undissolved dry yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl.
Blend well.
Add softened oleo.
Add hot water all at once.
Beat with mixer, on medium speed, for 2 minutes; scrape bowl occasionally.
Add 1 cup more flour.
Beat on high for 1 minute or until thick and elastic. Using a wooden spoon, gradually stir in just enough flour to make a soft dough that leaves sides of bowl.
