Overnight Lettuce Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce (crisp and bite sized)
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped green pepper
    1 medium red onion, sliced thin
    2 Tbsp. sugar, sprinkle over onion
    1 pkg. frozen green peas
    1 1/4 c. mayonnaise or salad dressing
    4 to 5 oz. grated Cheddar cheese
    8 slices bacon, fried crisp and crumbled
Preparation
    Layer first 6 ingredients.
    Spread mayo over top.
    Sprinkle over mayo the Cheddar cheese and bacon.
    Cover tightly and refrigerate at least 24 hours. Toss before serving.
