Spice Cake In A Jar - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 2/3 c. sugar
    2 c. applesauce
    2/3 c. water
    2/3 c. nuts
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. baking soda
    4 eggs
    3 1/3 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream
    shortening
    and
    sugar, add applesauce, eggs and water. Mix well.
    Mix dry ingredients in another bowl and add to first mixture.
    Add
    nuts (or raisins or both).
    Spray wide mouth pint jar
    with
    Pam
    and
    fill
    1/2 full.
    Place jars on cookie sheet. Cook at 350\u00b0 exactly 45 minutes.
    Remove jars 1 at a time and quickly screw lids on one at a time.
    Makes 6 to 8 jars.
    Great for small gifts around the holidays.
    This cake has the shelf life
    of
    one year because it has been properly sealed in a canning jar.
