Old Fashioned Nut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    1 c. light corn syrup
    4 c. unsalted nuts
    1 Tbsp. butter
    2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    In a large heavy saucepan or skillet, stir sugar, corn syrup and 2 cups of water over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Continue cooking without stirring until 238\u00b0 on candy thermometer, about 15 minutes.
    Add nuts.
    Continue cooking until syrup turns golden to 300\u00b0, about 20 minutes.
    Add butter and soda.
    Stir until well blended.
    Pour on lightly greased cookie sheet.
    Cool and break in pieces.
    Store in airtight container.
    Makes about 3 1/2 pounds.
