Pop Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 2/3 c. maple syrup
    1 stick butter
    1/2 Tbsp. ground nutmeg
    7 c. popped popcorn
    1 c. chopped, toasted almonds
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    In a heavy saucepan, combine maple syrup, butter and nutmeg, boiling until mixture reaches 270\u00b0 on a candy thermometer (soft crack stage), stirring occasionally.
    Mix popcorn, almonds and pecans.
    Dribble syrup mixture onto popcorn and nut mixture until well covered.
    May be made into bite-size popcorn balls and wrapped in wax paper or pressed into a large oiled pan and broken into smaller pieces when hardened.
    Keep in a container with a tight lid.
    Makes 7 to 9 balls.
