Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. scalded milk
1/2 c. poppy seed
2 c. flour
1 beaten egg yolk
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3 stiffly beaten egg whites
Preparation

Soak poppy seed overnight in scalded milk.
Cream sugar and shortening until smooth.
Add beaten egg yolk.
Add poppy seed mixture alternately with sifted dry ingredients.
Fold in the beaten egg whites.
Bake in a greased Bundt pan in a 350\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cooled completely.
