Old-Fashioned Chow Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. vinegar
    2 c. sugar
    3 white onions, chopped
    1 green bell pepper, chopped
    1 red bell pepper, chopped
    3 medium cucumbers, chopped
    1/4 small head cabbage, finely chopped
Preparation
    Heat vinegar and sugar in large saucepan until sugar is dissolved, stirring frequently.
    Add onions, bell pepper, cucumbers and cabbage.
    Mix well.
    Simmer for 1 1/2 hours on low heat.
    Ladle into 9 hot, sterilized 1-pint jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.
    Seal with 2-piece lids.
    Process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
    Let stand overnight before serving.
