Nanie'S Meat Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 to 6 lb. brisket (chuck is tastier)
    salt to taste
    3 meat bones
    1 pkg. split pea soup mix
    1/2 to 1 c. pearl barley
    1/2 to 1 c. lima beans (fresh, not canned)
    1 bunch carrots, cut in bite size pieces
    6 potatoes, cut into cubes
    1 bunch celery, cut in bite size pieces
    2 to 4 Tbsp. chicken bouillon powder or to taste
    pinch of baking soda
Preparation
    Fill pot with water.
    Cover meat; add meat bones.
    Cook for 1 1/2 hours.
    Add split pea soup mix, barley, lima beans, carrots, chicken bouillon, celery, salt and baking soda.
    Cook for 2 to 4 hours.
    Add potatoes in last 1 1/2 hours of cooking.
