Apple Pie Filling - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/4 c. cornstarch
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. salt
    8 c. or less water
    3 Tbsp. lemon juice
Preparation
    Bring first 6 ingredients to a boil; cook until thick and bubbly.
    Add lemon juice.
    Fill 7 hot quart jars about 1/3 full with filling.
    Pack tightly with pared and sliced apples.
    Seal. Process 20 to 30 minutes.
