Barbecued Meat Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 onion, minced
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    2 garlic cloves, minced
    1/2 tsp. dried marjoram
    2 lb. ground beef
    2 eggs
    1/4 c. bread crumbs
    1/4 c. club soda or seltzer (cold)
    3/4 c. finely chopped green pepper
    3/4 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1 c. plus 3 Tbsp. good-quality barbecue sauce
    freshly ground pepper to taste
Preparation
    In a small skillet, saute the onion in the oil for 3 to 4 minutes.
    Stir in the garlic; remove from the heat and spoon into large bowl and cool completely.
    To the onion-garlic mixture, add the marjoram, beef, eggs, bread crumbs, club soda, green pepper, Cheddar cheese, 1 cup barbecue sauce and ground pepper to taste; mix lightly but thoroughly.
    Form the mixture into a loaf in a lightly oiled 10-inch ovenproof baking dish.
    Spread the remaining 3 tablespoons barbecue sauce over the top and side of loaf.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
