Strawberry Flummery - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. half and half
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 to 4 tsp. sugar
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 c. milk
    3 egg yolks
    1 qt. strawberries (reserve a few for garnish)
Preparation
    In medium saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch and salt until no lumps remaining.
    Stir in milk and half and half until smooth.
    Stir constantly over medium heat.
    Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute, until thickened.
    Remove from heat.
    In small bowl, beat yolks until smooth.
    Gradually stir 1/3 of hot mixture into egg yolks, then stir back into hot mixture in saucepan.
    Over low heat, cook and stir for 3 to 4 minutes, until thick and glossy; do not boil.
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in vanilla.
