Piccalilli - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    15 lb. green tomatoes
    6 red bell peppers
    6 green peppers
    6 large onions
    1 head cabbage
    8 c. sugar
    1 1/2 qt. vinegar
    1/2 pt. water
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. whole cloves
    2 sticks cinnamon
Preparation
    Cut tomatoes in chunks and soak in salt water for 2 hours (1/2 cup salt and water to cover).
    Cut other vegetables into bite size pieces.
    Combine sugar, water, vinegar, celery seed and mustard seed.
    Drain tomatoes; add vinegar mixture.
    Tie cloves and cinnamon sticks in cheese cloth and add to mixture.
    Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 1/2 hour.
    Put in hot sterilized jars and seal.
