Old Fashioned Raisin Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. seedless raisins (dark or light)
    1 c. cold water
    1/2 c. salad oil or shortening
    1 c. white sugar
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1 3/4 c. sifted flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Combine raisins and walnuts.
    Bring to boiling; remove from heat.
    Stir in salad oil; cool to lukewarm.
    Stir in sugar and egg.
    Sift together dry ingredients; beat into raisin mixture. Stir in nuts.
    Pour into greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
    Makes 2 dozen.
