Bean Soup Canaan-Style - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. Northern beans
2 stalks celery, diced
2 carrots, diced
1 slice country ham, chunked
dash of pepper
dash of garlic seasoning
3 Tbsp. catsup
water
1/4 onion, chopped or onion flakes
Preparation

Soak beans in water; drain.
Add water to cover; add ham, celery, onion, carrots, pepper, garlic seasoning and catsup.
No salt needed as ham is salty.
Continue to cook for several hours, adding water and stirring when needed.
I cook on wood stove in cool weather. (Gale Ferris, Sr.'s recipe.)
Serve when tender and somewhat mushy.
Good with cornbread or crackers.
