Ingredients

1 c. dried cranberries (available at specialty food shops)
1 cinnamon stick
1 c. apple cider
2/3 c. all-purpose flour
2/3 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 stick unsalted butter, cut into bits
10 McIntosh apples (about 3 lb.)

Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
In a small saucepan, simmer the dried cranberries, cinnamon stick and the apple juice for 10 minutes. Drain the cranberries and remove cinnamon stick.
In a small bowl, blend the flour, brown sugar, salt and the butter until mixture resembles coarse meal; toss the mixture well.
Peel, core and slice apples thin and in a buttered 13 x 9-inch glass dish.
Toss them with the cranberries.
Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the apples and cranberries.
Bake the Crisp in the oven for 25 minutes.
Serves 6.
