Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 egg
1 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbsp. milk
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
In large mixing bowl, blend first 8 ingredients until smooth.
Scrape sides of bowl frequently.
Add dry ingredients and mix.
Scrape sides of bowl occasionally.
Shape into 1-inch balls.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Press down with fork in a straight or crisscross pattern.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
Remove from cookie sheets immediately.
Yields about 60 cookies.
