Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. Karo or honey
    1 c. water
    1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. maple flavor (optional)
    2 c. roasted peanuts
Preparation
    In a saucepan, combine sugar, syrup, water, butter and salt. Cover; cook 5 minutes.
    Uncover.
    Cook gently until the mixture begins to brown ever so slightly in the middle.
    Remove from fire; add soda, maple flavor and nuts.
    Pour into buttered flat pan, like a cookie sheet.
    Cool and break into pieces.
    Delicious. Recipe used for many years.
