Grandmother Watkins' Boiled Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 eggs, separated
    1 qt. milk
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Separate eggs.
    Beat egg yolks and add to 1 quart milk.
    Beat in sugar.
    Pour milk mixture into double boiler and heat.
    When it comes to a boil, fold in egg whites which have been beaten stiff. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
