Beef Barley Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. chopped green pepper
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/4 c. celery greens
3 1/2 to 4 c. water
1 can tomato soup
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1/2 c. green beans
2 to 3 tsp. sugar (optional)
salt and pepper
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. soy sauce
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. thyme
1/4 c. barley
1 c. chopped potatoes
3/4 c. chopped carrots
cabbage and broccoli (optional)
Preparation

Brown and drain ground beef.
Add remaining ingredients except carrots and potatoes; simmer 1 hour.
Add remaining vegetables and simmer another 20 minutes.
(A quart of whole tomatoes can be substituted for tomato soup and sauce.)
