German Sauerbraten Meatballs - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef
1 egg
3/4 c. soft bread crumbs
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. water
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/3 c. packed light brown sugar
1/4 c. dark raisins
2 1/2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. coarsely crumbled gingersnaps
Preparation

Combine ground beef with egg, bread crumbs, 1/4 cup water, onion and salt in bowl; mix well.
Shape into 1-inch balls.
Bring 1 1/2 cups water to a boil in saucepan.
Stir in bouillon cubes, brown sugar, raisins, lemon juice and gingersnap crumbs.
Add meatballs.
Simmer 10 minutes.
Turn over meatballs and baste with sauce.
Simmer 10 minutes longer.
Makes 6 servings.
