Night-Before French Toast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 loaf Italian bread, cut into 1-inch thick slices
    8 large eggs
    3 c. milk
    4 tsp. granulated sugar
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    2 Tbsp. butter, cut into pieces
Preparation
    Put bread in a well-greased 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.
    Mix other ingredients, except butter, and pour over bread in pan.
    Cover with foil; refrigerate for 4 to 36 hours.
    Uncover, dot with butter and bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes, until puffy and lightly browned.
    Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
    Serves 8 to 10.
    Serve with powdered sugar or syrup.
