Scalloped Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. fresh tomatoes, peeled and diced
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. grated medium sharp Cheddar cheese
    2 c. crushed Ritz crackers (not too fine)
    3 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Place a layer of tomatoes in a shallow 1 1/2-quart casserole; sprinkle with salt and pepper.
    Add a layer of cracker crumbs, then one of cheese.
    Dot with butter.
    Repeat.
    Bake in preheated 475\u00b0 oven for 20 or 30 minutes, until brown and bubbly.
