Ingredients

3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. cornstarch
2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, cut up
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. milk
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
Preparation

In a 2-quart saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, chocolate and salt; mix well.
Add milk gradually; heat over low heat.
Stir constantly until mixture thickens, about 10 minutes.
Cover and continue cooking 8 minutes; stir occasionally.
In mixing bowl, gradually stir half of hot mixture into beaten egg yolks; return to saucepan.
Cook 5 minutes; stir occasionally.
Remove from heat.
Add vanilla.
Pour into baked shell; refrigerate.
Serve with whipped cream.
