Southern Buttermilk Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
2 c. flour (White Lily or any other soft winter wheat flour)
2 tsp. baking powder (omit if using self-rising flour)
1/4 tsp. salt (omit if using self-rising flour)
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1/4 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk or less (depending on humidity)
Preparation
Mix flour (sift if desired) together with shortening and work to consistency of cornmeal.
    I use a pastry blender.
Add other ingredients and then add buttermilk; stir in well.
Turn out on floured surface (wax paper saves a mess).
Knead only until it can be rolled.
Roll using rolling pin to 1/3-inch thickness.
    Cut out biscuits with cutter.
Bake on greased pan for 8 to 10 minutes at 450\u00b0 oven.
    Makes 1 1/2 dozen.
This will be a hit with your yankee friends!
