Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers
    1/2 c. salt
    onions
    4 c. sugar
    1 qt. vinegar
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 Tbsp. ginger
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Slice 1 gallon of cucumbers.
    Mix with salt.
    Cover with ice for 2 1/2 hours.
    Drain, but don't wash.
    Slice onions.
    Mix onions and cucumbers together.
    Put onions and cucumbers in jars. Mix sugar, vinegar, pepper, ginger, celery seed and mustard seed together.
    Heat to boiling point, but don't boil.
    Cover cucumbers and onions with hot liquid.
    Seal jars.
